I believe that motivation is about believing that you can do it. I have had many bumps in my road of life, however with meditation, motivation, determination and the belief in myself that I am worthy, I am achieving better results daily towards my goals.

I am grateful for this site that gives me inspiration to keep going, and never give up no matter what tries to block your path.

    - Barbara Berger in her book “The Road to Power”. What a powerful way to put it! Your thoughts and what you say to yourself are what create your reality. I love the way she expressed it.

… A boat with a furled sail at rest in a harbor …
Edgar Lee Masters in Spoon River Anthology. The various poems are by fictional characters, all dead, who come forward to describe what were the most important things in their lives. The character, George Gray, tells how his entire life had been like a boat at rest in the harbor, its sails furled, because the boat had never once left port. The character laments how a life without meaning, with longings yet with fear at the same time, is a life of quiet torture. Too late, he says
“And now I know that we must lift the sail
And catch the winds of destiny
    Wherever they drive the boat.”

    • Dear Flowercrazy,

I know this was an old post but it touched my heart. Loved your sharing…Want you to know that many of us feel very isolated in this life. Especially when we are not allowed to be who we truly are. It’s confusing and painful. But, please remember that you are not alone, ever. The love and understanding you seek really does lie within. And each of us is here with a team of non-physical support. You probably do see and communicate with them. That said, it’s great to commune with those of like-mind to affirm our realities so that we can trust and affirm who we are and get a real hug now and then. The internet has been that amazing point of contact for me. I’m still fairly covert in my “woo woo”ness, especially at my workplace and do use discernment with whom I share, though I am growing bolder as I gain personal strength in my own truths. You may be well past this by now, but I joined some on-line classes and groups and have made soul family friends from that. Yes we only get together now and then in physical, but their support and love and contact have made all the difference. Namaste.

    • I know what you mean! I don’t talk to dead people, although I was involved in the Spiritualist Church, where people channel messages from Spirit.
My claim to fame is my ability to “hear” animals, although “hear” isn’t really accurate.. It’s more like I see their messages in the form of pictures.
When I allowed my parents to know this, they had me committed.
      Now I’m super careful who I tell…

  • …prepare yourself for true engagement. If you have developed the
necessary patience and discernment, you will be able to recognize this engagement without a great deal of speculation or evaluation. For when you meet those individuals with whom you are meant to carry forth a greater purpose in life, they will simply be recognized. There will not be a frenzy of emotion in being around them. You will not be passionately swept away and deliriously captivated with their presentation of themselves. No. It will be quiet. It will be simple. It will be deep. They will be known. You will fit together easily because two pieces that fit together do fit together easily. And though there will be personal problems along the way, and though there will be some disagreements and discord, your essential natures will compliment each other perfectly, and you will realize that relationships are the means and not the end for experiencing a greater purpose in life.

  • Here are several to choose from:

“Those who say it can’t be done should stop interrupting those who are doing it.”

    - Moravian Church motto

And finally, my two favorites from Winston Churchill.

The first was an address delivered at a school assembly in the 50s in a very poor part of London. Most students at the school never graduated. The majority ended in jail or dead before 40.

Churchill got up on the podium and looked each student in the eye, one by one.
    “Nevaaahhh give up.”
And then eyeballed each student in the hall again, one at a time.
    “Nevaaaah give up!!”
A third time Churchill intensely stared at each young person, holding their gaze for a few interminable memorable seconds.
He then turned and left the podium and the hall.
This was told to me by someone who was there. He said it changed the life of every student. Every one of them graduated. None went to jail. Many went on to university and trade schools, unheard of in that time and place. All did something with their lives. And not one of them ever forgot the message to “Nevaaaah give up.”

    The second is about excellence:
    “Excellence is…
    Caring more than others think is wise;
    Risking more than others think is safe;
    Dreaming more than others think is practical;
Expecting more than others think is possible.”
    - Winston Churchill

    • Winston Churchill is NOT the author of “Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible.”

(It’s more lovely in Flemish: “Als het kanneke niet werkt, gebruik dan het leerke”
kan = can & kanneke = local diminutive form of a can
leer= learn & leerke = local diminutive form of a ladder)

  • “Weeds are just surprise guests to the party you call your garden!”

This popped up in my head when I tried to illustrate that so many people complain about plants they call weeds that actually are more beautiful/natural than the plants they are trying to cultivate if they are given the time to grow…
But same goes for spontaneous thoughts, not all are rubbish and with some time to develop they can turn out to the best ideas ever…
(I love wild gardens, they do ask for at least as much work as an “orchestrated” one but you don’t have to be frustrated to remove every kind of seedling, you get to be curious and watch them develop into little artworks of nature. The real job in a wild garden is to “police” the plants so one kind of plant doesn’t overtake the place.)

  • This is how I cheered some woman up one day, and made her day. I was at a bank at a teller’s window completing a deposit slip. After I completed the deposit slip, instead of passing it to her like most people would do. I picked up the slip, and started to wave it in the air, and back and forth, and up and down. She was having a lot of fun trying to get it, then she finally grabbed it. She then smiled and said awwww, you made my day, I was having such a bad day, thank you. You never know what small acts of kindness will do for another. It takes more facial muscles to smile then frown. Remember play it forward.

  • I’ve been fascinated by quotes for as long as I can remember, and use them on a daily basis as inspiration for myself, and others.

My favorite quote is, the very first quote I remember hearing. I was about 4 years old, and though it’s a famous quote from the Bible, I heard it first from my mother, who used it quite often (I think it was her favorite as well).

I use it myself almost daily, and it has never lost any of it’s impact to motivate and inspire me. The first time she used it in response to my question “So and so said that only babies believe in Santa Clause, and that he’s not real. Is that true?”
    To which my mother replied…

    “Believe, and you shall receive.”

I’ve been consciously pursuing an education in metaphysics for over 40 years, and during that time have read many books, articles, and of course, ‘quotes’ on the subject of ‘The Journey of Life’, and about finding the ‘right’ path.

Earlier this year, after reading a post on facebook where someone asked “How do I know if I’m on the right path?”, I replied with my philosophy on the subject, and received many ‘likes’ to my comment. I’d like to share that comment with your readers who might be pondering that same question, in the hopes they find inspiration and/or wisdom in my words.

“When contemplating one’s Life Journey, It seems that so much emphasis is placed on finding the ‘right’ path, and in determining if the path your on is right for you.

I say create your own path, and eliminate all doubt! It’s always the path of the least resistance, and regrets, offers the most happiness and satisfaction, and no matter what choices you make, is always ‘right’ for you.”
    -Mindy Collier

  • The family I was born into does not define me. I Am an individual creation endowed with free will by my Creator. I give myself permission to choose differently.

When I look into my mirror what do I see? If I see anything other than the most “incredible” creation, then I am choosing to believe a lie!

My “house” is the house that Spirit has chosen to inhabit. I Am created for the Life of the Universe to declare Itself alive in!

Today I choose not to believe what others have told me who I am. I am none of these perceptions! I Am the spoken Word of God.

I choose to give up the story I have chosen to believe in lieu of a story that presents me with the fulness of joy, happiness and well-being.

Today, I give myself permission to be who I was destined to Be!

“I could have, I should have, I need to” are no longer part of my vocabulary. These are self defeating words which do not create Life. These words kill the Essence I Am!

I Am living to express the greatness that Spirit has implanted in me. I Am the earth that the seed of Spirit has been planted in, and I choose to water that seed with Self Love everyday.

Today I begin again to support me. No one else’s business is my business. I concentrate and focus on me. This is Self Love!

My mother sent me that saying back in 1983 because she said it reminded her of me at the time she had seen it, and clipped it out of the Los Angeles Times. It did resonate within me when I read it, and has stuck with me ever since.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but dont you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,

The silver tint on the clouds of doubt,

And you can never tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems afar.

So, stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit

It’s when things go wrong that you mustn’t quit.

She took her PhD in June this year, and when we went out to celebrate, I told her how happy I am because of the fact that on Dec 12 I will be 60 years old, and that my life has never been so interesting and exciting. So, she sent me thze following words as a burthday gift.

  • Whenever you are feeling less than good, if you will stop and say, Nothing is more important than that I feel good—I want to find a reason now to feel good, you will find an improved thought.
Anytime you feel negative emotion, you are in the mode of resisting something that you want, and that resistance takes its toll on you. It takes its toll on your physical body, and it takes its toll on the amount of wonderful things that you are allowing to come into your experience.

It is not attention to lack of wellness that makes you sick. It is attention to the lack of many things… Chronic attention to unwanted things holds you in a place of disallowing your physical well-being, as well as disallowing the solutions to other things you are focused upon. If you would focus your attention upon the experience of physical well-being as much as you focus upon the absence of it, not only would your recovery come quickly, but maintaining your physical well-being and balance would also be easy.

  • I’ve always been considered a little “slow” in getting things done… However, when I’m finished, it doesn’t have to be “re”-done or “finished” by someone else… In lieu of that, I’ve always wanted to create a bumper sticker (because I more often than not drive the speed limit without actually knowing what it is…) that says, “If I’m driving too slow, you obviously started too late…” Then again, it would be nice to just make a “proverb” that states, “What’s the rush, the World isn’t going anywhere without you…!”

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
